Hi Everyone,
New here although a fairly experienced grower. Thinking of getting into the LED side of things for my next round and wondered if anyone had some information that could help me choose between these two. I have searched around and seen comparisons between the Pro Gro 400 but not the x model. Any advice, suggestions or info much appreciated.

i just did a quick search on the progro400x. the main difference i see is solarstorm has 5 watt led while PG is only 3 watt. and that will make a huge difference when it comes time to flower.
i also read that they say that it will produce similar results to a 600 watt HPS. i highly doubt that.
what is the price difference?
unless you can buy 2 of the progrow for the price of one solarstorm, i'd stick with the solarstorm if you are intent on going to led.
my next grow will be using my solarstorm for all of veg and early bloom and then switch to HPS for the rest of flower

The price is around the same, I am interested in finding a good one just because managing the environment sounds much more efficient. There's also the blackstar 600w which seems good and a lot cheaper really. Anyone else have any info ?

There are other differences too.
They claim to cover a 4x4 area and we know that's BS...not for cannabis at least.
The hydrohut lights are all chinese imports sold under different names to different importers (like blackstar probably) and they won't have the UVB like the CLW lights either.
The blackstar lights use 2w diodes which are even weaker than the hydrohut lights and they aren't even honest enough to give the actual draw specs but they lie about how much area those cover too.
I've heard good things about blackdog lights but I don't know their prices. I don't like some of the BS on their website either though.

what is your growing style? and what is the current setup you'd like to replace with led?
i think we've found here that 2x3 is the "optimal" grow area for the SS400 as long as the plants are fairly short. if you are really good at doing a SCROG, then the led will be better for you. if you like growing bigger plants, the led wont' give you the penetration of HID and you'll lose a lot of weight.

At the moment two 2x2 tents with nft trays. I flower pretty early and keep to short groing strains anyway which keeps things manageable. I was intending to cut over to an iws system at the same time as managing to water/food would work well in my current environment this way. Looking like I should go for the solar at the moment I guess ?
