RKYMTNMAN's getting dirty

Postby rkymtnman » Fri Jun 06, 2014 10:07 am

Hi Folks,

I'm gonna try 2 plants in dirt as a change of pace from my RDWC setup. I started 3 Aurora Indica feminized seeds around May 18th. It was more of a test to see if I could get some seeds going and now I've got 3 plants that I wasn't sure what to do with them. All 3 have been in the outdoor greenhouse since around May 28th. I'm going to leave one in the greenhouse and see how it does. The other 2 I brought in to my grow room a few days ago and put under 24/0 with the SS400. I'm going to use LED for most if not all the grow. We tend to get short power blips because of afternoon storms in the summer and I like that the LED can turn right back on and not have to wait to cool down like HID"S.

So far just watering with well water or well water with AgeOldOrganics Fish and Seaweed liquid ferts. They are in 10gal smart pots with a potting soil/perlite mix.

Not sure why one is much bigger than the other? Maybe they weren't getting equal sun in the greenhouse?
Here are a few pics.

Yo RKY! Long time no see... ;)

If they're all from seed the runt could just be from genetic/phenotype differences too. See how they grow; sometimes the runt turns into a champion.

Hey SME,
Got bored just reading all these posts/journals so figured I'd start a new journal.

Any experience with the AgeOld stuff? They do make a bloom and veg formula also. I just saw some small print on the bottle that says it's more like an additive/supplement and not a full nute regimen.

As this grow progresses, I'm going to be phasing in a drain to waste Coco setup and move away from the DWC. I'm trying to find a system that I can leave alone for a few days and go out of town and not worry too much about. I'm hoping the DTW will get me there.

Let me know if you see anything I'm doing wrong!

I've been wanting to test my back with a grow or two but I'm paranoid about injuring myself if the fusion isn't complete yet. I REALLY don't want to rip out screws/rods and have to start over.

Nope, I never really got into the organics stuff and I quit soil long long ago. Maybe I should give it a try again someday. ;)

There are a couple of new nutrient dosers/controllers on the market that *could* help with either recirculating or the DTW systems but that will add expense too. I've been following them on social media (gt.c) but I don't know the actual cost of either. I haven't tested/reviewed either yet so I'm just going by the info that I have so far. There's also the build it yourself type arduino based systems that you might consider if you're very tech-y.

Day 13 of 12/12. So far so good. The runt in front just never caught up to the big one in back.

I kept the SS400 in veg mode for the first 8 days of 12/12 too. Not sure if that will help reduce stretch or not. Day 9 switched to bloom and UV on too.

I see some necrosis in that top picture, make sure you're not over-feeding and be sure to keep an eye on pH...
