Hi folks,

I'm new to your forums and new to LEDs, & I'm looking for input from those who have experience! My background has been using HPS to flower and T-5s for veg. My last grow was using 2-1000 watt HPS in the flower room, and I have little experience with small or stealthy.

I'm currently living in a 2-BR apartment and I'm planning to set up in the spare bedroom. My thinking so far was to set up a small tent with an LED, carbon filter & 4" inline fan. I'm a soil grower and plan to keep no more than 4 medium sized plants in flower at any given time. Once my set up gets rolling, I plan to stagger when I put them in flower, so that I can take down one plant about every 3-4 weeks. If my yield is sufficient, this should keep me in meds. My goal is to harvest about 2oz (dried) bud each month. By staggering them, I hope to keep the odor down too since the younger ones won't stink as bad.

I've been looking at various tents and lights. So far the Argomax small tent (22"x36"x63") looks about right for 4 plants. As soon as funds will allow, I'll be setting up another tent for vegging & clones. I'll only keep 2 or 3 small moms since I'll only need a few clones at a time.

Now for the light... Here's where I'm having trouble figuring out exactly what I need. I have been looking at the 240 watt, 7-band HTG. It also includes UV. Here's a link to the specs:


I'd be most appreciative of your feedback on this light. I'm just hearing of the California Lighting Solar Storm & Solar Flare LEDs (which seem to be popular here). I'd love to know how you folks think they compare.

I have a few questions I'd also like to ask...

1. What size (wattage) LED would be best for my application?

2. I think the tent I'm looking at could actually go a bit smaller but I can't find one. I'd also like one a bit shorter since I'm only going for medium sized plants. Anybody know of any?

3. In addition to the carbon filter, I'm planning to run a small ozone generator in the grow room, and another close to the front door in the living room. Do you think this should handle the odor or am I just kidding myself?

Lastly, I'm doing this on a very tight budget and with some borrowed money, so I need to make every dollar count!

Apartment grows aren't the best of ideas but it's up to you...

I'm not too sold on those 3w panels, they don't tell us the actual power draw, just that they have 80 3w diodes. I'm not sure about the IR spectra either.

To flower well in what's effectively a 2x3 tent you'll want 300+ watts, since that light is not really 240w you could run 2 of them I suppose but you'll still only have 3w diodes so certainly you'll be aiming for small plants not medium sized.

Amazon has/had some smaller tents but you'd be surprised how much headroom you'll want once you don't have enough,

Ozone isn't really good for living tissues and there are studies that show that it's not so effective in safe quantities. A good carbon filter and some Ona Gel should be enough for most plants. Is what you're growing particularly bad?

LED setups aren't always the most cost effective despite many myths.
