Welcome to the forums!

While our rules don't allow for shit talking, we demand maturity and respect, people are free to disagree and comment whether they agree or not so that will have to do. ;)

1) A 4x4 tent for growing cannabis (if you use the whole thing for plants) will need more light, even your old 600w HPS wasn't big enough and neither would 2 SS400w's nor 1 SS800w be enough if you want top-shelf results. 1 SS400s (~340w actual draw) is only good for about a2x3 area, 2 would only cover a 4x3.

2) To properly cover a 4x4 tent (using the whole space) for cannabis you'd need over 800w.

3) if you're NOT using the whole tent for plants, you have much more flexibility. ;)

Don't forget pictures! :D

Hello There Again.

Thank you for a response, SME. I just meant "discussing topics" not actual shit talk!
Anyways, thanks for the heads up on coverage areas and the comparison to the HPS. I don't use the entire (4x4) area for flowering even with a 600 watt HPS. In the past I made a 3x3 scrog style net and squeezed a small ac/ dehumidifier in there as well. That is what Im working with.

Do you think I would be happy with the SS800 over the 3x3 area? or 2 SS400?

:::As per SME's recommendation on coverage areas of SS400:::
Change of plans, for this run I am going to go EVEN SMALLER then,
My scrog net will only be 26"x26" to accommodate for the coverage of the SS400
Net is 11" from soil.. so I will flip to 12/12 when plans are 11" tall and train across net for stretch.

OK got it now. here are some pics!! what you guys n gals think about this as a ruff idea?
Hoping this works, but not against changing anything.
Thanks, C.logical

Hello There.

Ok then. moving right ahead. I think that this will be an ok test area, for this light. Even if the 26"x26" is a little bit small for the light I am hoping for good results. I am going to start with the light at 16" over the top of the plants, for a day, see how they do and move it down to 12" if they look happy. I am going to top them at like 9"-10" then flip to 12/12. All suggestions welcome.
Thanks for stopping by.

Yes, a single SS800w over a 3x3 = 71w/sqft and that should be very good. Optionally you could go with 2 SS400w's over a 3x4 for 53w/sft or the 3x3 for more. The SS800w is better in square areas and the SS400w is better in *slightly* rectangular areas due to the layout of the diodes.

It's better to have a little more light/sqft than less. ;)

I'd give them at least few days after topping before flipping to give them time to recover from the topping stress.

YMMV... ;)

cool thanks SME for the advice. more is better, when talking about w/sft I will keep that in mind.

for now this should do well -------> 26" x 26" or 2' x 2'ish = 80 - 85 w/sft so this should be badass!! haha I'm excited.

I like the 2nd option of putting 2x SS400 and having it cover (3' x 3') or (3' x 3.5'). Possibly I could have 1-2 plants under each with modular net to get closer to perpetual cycles, or at least have 2 smaller harvests staggered. I guess if it was a flowering room only. i don't know.

anyways, I will be sure to give them a week or so after topping, for some recovery time. They are already almost ready for a top so when I do it ill post some new pics.

Thanks a ton.

Hello There Everyone.

Just a quick pics update. The plants seem to like the light and were reaching up so I lowered the light, a little bit, to 12" over the tops.

This light weighs a lot, it is build like a tank. So I would suggest buying some hangers and not using wire or something that could break. I am so happy with the overall build quality A+ . Cant wait to test it in flower mode.

Check out the set up, All suggestions welcome. Thanks for stopping by.

p.s. if you CLICK the pics they won't scroll around. (pain in the @$$)

::12" over the tops @ 26" x 26" hoping for a dense little micro canopy::

Hello There.

Quick Update. Plants are growing quickly and the bottoms are shooting to the top. Anyways, everything else seems nice, SS400 seems to run cool and the fans on top are not loud at all, can't hear it at all over 4" exhaust. This light is preforming great in veg @ 12" over tops.

probably going to top them in a day or two.

Anyone see anything I can do to help optimize. drop a line
Thanks,
CL

You could bump up the humidity to 60% until flowers form...
