Hi all, I'm in the planning phase of my SS400w GFP grow, and I'm wondering about the shape of its light footprint. I see that the SS800w has 4 led banks in a square configuration, but the SS400w has them in more of a rectangular configuration.
So, I'm wondering if any of you SS400w growers out there have any advice on the ratio of length to width that I should shoot for. Or, should I just try to match the rectangular shape of the LED banks themselves?
Thanks for reading, Dave

If you're looking to run over 60w/sqft you're looking at ~5sqft so 2.25x2.25 or a 2x2.5 but, either way, you should be fine since you're running so much light in such a small area. Pick whichever is easier for you or the one that fits your grow style best...

Here we go. I found the dimensions for the SS400w (I think):
24" L x 18" W x 4" H
So I guess I have to go 2'x2.5', otherwise there won't be any space for the side vents. Still a pretty tight fit though. Side venting without a flange is a pretty obvious design flaw IMO. Gotta try it to find out though.
After my flowering experiment I think I'll try the SS400w in my 3x3 veg tent. Everyone says LED is best in veg anyway...
The tent or room can be bigger but the space taken by the plants is where you want to get your w/sqft ratio right. So, if you use a 3x3 tent, that's fine, just leave a little space around the edges. I'd experiment using the SS for veg, I'd try the veg mode and then the bloom mode, I'm not sure the uvb boost will help much in veg though.
Like with many things, try it and see if works for you...
