Here's an update on my new run with the chemdog plant. 2 + weeks flowering. It's gotten pretty leggy so I assume this strain has sativa influence. Starting to smell wonderful so I have high hopes for it. Just about maximized the height in my tent already, I hope it doesn't get too much bigger (the stretching appears to have stopped). I'm tying the branches out toward the tent corners. It was topped during veg, of course.

Question: The leaf curling issue from before seems to be rearing its ugly head (see pic) on a few fan leaves, but the plant otherwise looks very healthy. Maybe it's chunks of something in the soil, most leaves look perfectly fine. But I really wish I knew what the curling was from, I suppose the overabundance of some nutrient or another? I should probably consult that plant abuse chart :mrgreen:

You need to hit the focus button on your camera sometimes too. :P

It's a little hard to tell based on those pictures but it could be environmental or nutrient related. What are your temps/humidity like? PH? What strength nutrients are you feeding? Always check the basics when dealing with plant issues... ;)

Ah, I haven't thought about it but it could be too dry in there! Low humidity has been a constant problem in the apartment. Maybe time to get a humidifier. Usually we have the reverse problem here in the summer. Temps are def ok it's around 78 in there. I will check the pH too next time I'm there. I know I tend to over think problems while ignoring some of the basics, so thanks for the reminder SME ;)

Absolutely, low humidity could cause that. Add an open bucket of water or even a wet t-shirt/towel in there until you can add a humidifier. You don't want it too humid in flower but you don't want it too low either... ;)

Hi Dusty,

How are you my friend? Nice growin' so far. I have bad eyes, and let's face it the pics aren't out of an EOS Rebel with 50x zoom with stability control. But I a willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, you may have some debilitating ailment that keeps you from having a steady hand. You get these phantom burns, I get phantom drips of something shiney. Each grow I will get one or two drops per plant. The drops eventually yellow up. They maybe 1-2 mm in size, and never seem to hurt my grow. It didn't stop me from trying to find out what was wrong at first, like you, cuz you maybe do have a deficiency. I am not new, but I am old. Which means I know too much old stuff, and not enough new. So I am learning right along with you.

I wanted to stop by and let you know that us other simple members are looking at yer grow too.

Hey Eek! Thanks for saying hello, I had been checking out your journal too... Good to see another organic grow on here! I am of the mind that soil improves with use, because more amendments get a chance to break down and provide nutrients to the plant. I actually just added a little Jamaican bat guano, worm castings and kelp to my main batch and its been hanging out for a couple weeks now, I just turn it over occasionally. The soil now appears and feels richer. I really like not having to worry about nutrient schedules :mrgreen: this way the plants just get what they need from the soil also its easy for my assistant cuz he just gives it water when its thirsty.

For my next update coming up I'm going to use more lighting with the pics and will make an effort to press the focus button :shock: so clarity should improve. I do not even know what an eos rebel is haha just makin do with phone cam for now 8-)

Week 4 - there Seems to be a spider mite problem... Any recommendations on what to do? :? I'm afraid if I spray neem oil it could adversely affect the bud flavor. I didn't try to get the mites in the pic, too small. I'm pretty sure they're spider mites.

You definitely want to properly ID the pest but spider mites spin webs so they are pretty easy to identify that way too... ;)

A few fan leaves midway up on the plant have very small dots on the top, on the underside I noticed small brownish things crawling around, no bigger than pinheads. Didn't see webs but that doesn't mean they aren't there, or it might still be in the early stages. I checked the plant chart and spider mites is the only pest that appears to fit my symptoms. Only thing is they say they are invisible to the naked eye but I saw them moving under the leaf. I have good eyes though :shock:

I'm afraid neem oil may be my safest choice, pyrethrum as a last resort.
