hey xylem

i saw your question about light height. i think most people have been running it from 12 to 24 inches. smaller the plant, farther the light. if you drop it too low, 2 issues might pop up: you won't get the same coverage sq ft wise. you could give the plant too much light and bleach the leaves.

CalMag is often used when people use RO water but I've never heard of it being LED specific. *shrug*

I did add calmag today. They got a watering 4 days since the last. They're drinking faster now. Usually get water every 5, not overwatering. Today's watering also featured their first Grow Big, a whopping 3/4 tsp per and the usual Big Bloom. Funny today zero vertical growth since yesterday. Maybe that's normal. Time of first report day 17 they were 5 1/4 and 4 1/2 inches. Today, day 23 they are 8 1/2 and 7 inches. Here's a new picture of numero uno (baby sister not featured today). Short but bushy. Like it to stretch out a little. Light now 22 inches up. Closer due to growth. Little sister propped on books.

'Nother funny thing. The morning after their first liquid feed plant 1 gained an inch. Plant 2 I need to reunite. She's trying my patience.

Reminds me that it's been said the cotyledons remaining green suggests the plant doesn't need added nutrition. This morning they look yellowed and spent.

'Nother interesting note related to plant 1 especially which is a shorty but bushy as all get go and vital is this viewpoint I found:
To answer your question, yes you can veg & flower under 2700k, however expect longer leggier plants with popcorn buds. I veg and flower under mostly 6500k and as a result I get short (about 2.5 ft) plants with a couple gigantic colas (check my old threads). If I had it my way I would veg under 6500k and flower under 24-2700k, that way I have bushy plants with many big buds.
2 1/2 ft plants? And no mention of autos let alone dwarfs. I'm under the 440 in veg with 6500K cfls alongside. But how does the light get into that mini jungle?

Quandary. Guidance I got from team CLW, suspend light 30 inches for 3 weeks, lower 6 inches every 2 weeks till 18 inches. Suggests 18 inches is as close as we want to keep it. I started it at 29 inches when they were 3 1/2 inch plants. 2 weeks later near the end of week 4 one is 12 inches and the light is 18-19 inches(math doesn't quite work out). Am I supposed to start RAISING the light? Seems counter intuitive.

don't get too hung up on the distance. anywhere from 12 to 24 will work. you'll have to keep raising the light as the plant grows.

i would almost guarantee that the light won't bleach/burn your plants at 12inches

CLW also told me that I shouldn't need to use a humidifier. take what they say with a grain of salt

They say 18-24 to get the light to cover more area (at a loss of intensity) but they mean 18-24 from the light to the top of the plants, not to the ground. So, yes, you have to raise the light as the plants grow.

As RKY said, if you don't get bleaching at 12" it's OK to be there but the lower the light, the less area it will cover.

They are growing at a higher rate going into 30 days in. I have no other features to note on the plants to my unpracticed eye. And as they proceed from preflowering to flowering it'll be a challenge to recognize the finer points of development: the pistils, the trichomes, nuances of color and what not, harder to get outside assistance when the clues are visible through a 40X magnifier.

As for my scientific process, not so great. I switched from 24/0 to 20/4 but forgot to note when. Last night I forgot to turnoff the T5 over the pepper seedlings so lights out were lights dimmer. I put it on its own timer now. I have notes for this and that but the most notable thing so far is how I have done everything to provide two White Dwarf seeds with identical experiences and get one that is 17 inches tall, another just 12. Same genetics?

Well, if nothing else, CLW can see who's using their lights and how.

Next picture to follow when they come out for their next watering.
