The places here in CO are getting stricter with only selling clones less than a certain height per the regulations. That's why I've been starting my last few plants from seed.

YMMV...

Yeah I know, you've made that point many times. But I don't agree yet - I might agree eventually, but right now I plan on using LST to get them oriented properly - mainlining, specifically. So flowering now would be counterproductive. Plus I want to give them some time under this light, 2 days under veg mode is not a test.
SisterMaryElephant wrote:If you're going to top or LST to mainline then, hopefully, that should also reduce the height, right?
SisterMaryElephant wrote:LED lights, even with 5w diodes, have KNOWN penetration issues but it's your grow so do what you want. *I* wouldn't want to extend VEG that long unless I was growing trees with HID lights but that's just me. There's nothing wrong with experimenting and not everybody is after efficiency. As I've always said, there is no one "right way" to grow.

That's why I'm not worried.SisterMaryElephant wrote:LED lights, even with 5w diodes, have KNOWN penetration issues but it's your grow so do what you want. *I* wouldn't want to extend VEG that long unless I was growing trees with HID lights but that's just me. True statement. However, I'm not approaching this like I want it to behave like an HID - I know it won't. What I do know is if I treat it LIKE an HID then I'll have problems so this is new territory and I need to watch the plants very carefully. I'll do this particular test with no supplemental lighting per my agreement with CLW but what's interesting is how much different the product will be from the 750 HPS that is in the other tent.
Same guy, same lung room, same nutes, same strains, different lights. Should be a good comparison.

That's why I said I'd want to flower at/below 12" too. I wasn't saying flower now.
It's not much different than growing shorter plants with HID, the biggest difference is spectral, area coverage and penetration. I'll give you my prediction now; the 750w side will have bigger and more dense flowers with a higher total yield, assuming the plants for both sides are equal at the start of flowering. That also assumes that neither side has nutrient/pH/environmental issues that the other side doesn't have.
I'm looking forward to the test...
