Solarstorm Grow 2nd go around!

Postby Powerwiz » Mon Jul 30, 2012 4:49 pm

Hey people. Started another grow. Its been a while since I had to move earlier in the year which disrupted the grow I had then (had to give away my plants). Anyhow just set it all up this week, bought a few things I needed and here she goes!

Tent: 4x4x7 Viagrow Tent. Outstanding tent if your looking for one. Excellent build qualuty.

Light: California Lightworks Solarstorm 800w 5w LED Panel with T8 UVB tubes built in. Thing is a monster of a LED lamp. Pulls about 690 watts with it all on. It has two modes...a grow and a bloom mode. In grow its about 400-450 watts. Nearly 100% American components, and all assembled in the US of A. No cheap ass chinese LEDs here. The other components that are not American are German I believe. More American then a Chevy Truck.

Strains: I had some DNA Genetics Reserva Privada OG Kush #18 seeds left...3 of them so decided to go with that. Top shelf stuff. Also growing some non cannabis items as well. A basil plant and some Korean Perilla leaves. The OG is in the Airpots. Im using 2 3 gallon airpots and 1 1 gallon airpot. The basil is in the white round pot and Perilla leaves are in the long planter.

If your wondering WTF is a Perilla leaf is its a asian plant. It actually grows wild in the US...its like Kudzu in the south. One it sets in theres no getting rid of it. There are a variety of different types..I personally like the Korean version. Its often called Sesame Leaf but it has no relation to it. The asians use it for a variety of things. They sell Perilla oil, use the leaves as wraps for food, you can make a kimchi outta it. I like using them as wraps, and making a kimchi outta it. Its more like marinated leaves though. Its one of the reasons why Asians have such a low cancer rate. They eat a very natural diet compared to Americans and more of a whole world view look towards foods....ie eating a whole leaf. It has a basil-mint taste to it. 60 days from seed to harvest!

Soil/Nutes: Fox Farm Ocean Soil. Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow/Bloom A/B, Bontanicare CalMag, Advanced Nutes Big Bud, and Advanced Nutes Bud Candy. Used others but about a year ago switched to Advanced...love there stuff.

I started the grow on the 22nd. Heres some pics of the last few days.

Some quick pictures I took today over lunch. Girlies are growing fast already stinky to. Forgot how much OG Kush smells. Odor control is a must with this strain. So far no issues but they have not been alive that long. Do to the heat from the Solarstorm and airpots having to water a little more often then not but not really a issue. Just straight ph balanced water right now. Will start nutes in another 2 weeks or so. My Perilla Leaves are also growing rapidly. They grow faster then Cannabis actually 60 days from seed to finish.

They look big enough to start getting light nutrients now, if you wait two weeks be sure to watch for nutrient deficiencies. ;)

VERY light, you don't want to burn them, especially in soil. They can probably go several days without just keep an eye on them. ;)
