Funny how many of us SolarStorm buyers were using BlackStar / Lighthouse LEDs. I traded out three 180W BlackStars covering six square feet for the SolarStorm covering sixteen square feet -- a huge dropoff in Watts per square foot -- and so far I'm rather impressed. That being said, I'm not growing anything out in the corners at the moment... I've got a bunch of 90W UFOs around for just that purpose. So far they don't appear to be necessary, but I'm just finishing off a grow; the real test will come with a serious SOG using identical genetics.

Lots of nute talk, as always. I loved the tinkering and fiddling with the Advanced Nutrients - even went whole hog and did their "Connoisseur Package" for a Big Bud grow, which came out killer. That being said, I'm back on Canna (Terra line) again and, if the quality is worse, I sure can't tell. Canna is just so freaking easy; combined with soil, you've got about the simplest and most forgiving system I've yet found.

All you old heads out there: Soma argues that soil imparts a much better flavor than hydro... There are lots of "intangibles" in soil which get incorporated into the terpenes (my soil is full of composted bat and chicken shit - probably don't want to think too much about that!). I've done some coco growing and gone back to soil, but maybe I just made beginner mistakes or picked bad genetics -- what do you think? I know that cannabis is a major accumulator - it'll take whatever's in the soil and hold on to it (like metals). Does that argue for or against soil? Eager to hear opinions.

I think thats because they have a decent name. Many a grow journals you can find using there products combined with the price its a compelling LED to own.

Never tried Canna I will look into it thanks!

Thats funny you said that..in China human waste is processed on a massive scale and used as nutes for crops. 1.5 billion humans pooing you have a lot of fertilizer...lol. Many of our crops that Americans eat are grown over there..haha. So in essence the Chinese are shitting on us!!!

On soil I think either or is fine. Both have its ups and downs. As for flavor well I smoke cigs so my taste buds don't pick up stuff like that. Hydro or Soil tastes the same or no different however you wanna look at it at least to myself.

As for bad genetics I think that has more to with anything then anything just about. Cannabis Grow Bible the revised one author eliminates like all but 100-120 strains as good all the rest crappy cheap genetics. I agree.

Oh wow, sorry bro. From some of the pics it looked like a little one. You definitley need a bigger fan/filter then. I would do an 8", then you could run it real low (for sound) and it will still move good air.

Your getting to have quite a diary going here, people are actually talking to ya! Keeping my fingers crossed. Peace. h

Ps. What kind of medium are you using in the bubblers?

Well right now I have the temp under control. Stable at 80. I opened up a side vent and have a fan on the outside pushing in air...but I will bet getting a bigger fan and carbon filter just not now. Right now the light is running on Flower with UVB so its pulling a lot more wattage then if I was on the Veg cycle. When I switch to Veg for my plants germinating I think I will be fine.

The Medium I am using is Suretogrow. They hydroton pellets were throwing off my ph a lot even though i had pre soaked, messy as well. Suretogrow is 100% cotton, washable, and easy to grow in. They sell them in exact sizes for what ever net pot your using or just regular cubes of all sizes. It also has no effect on PH.

I don't like having factors in anything that I can't control. Eliminating the source of of one ph issue makes me happy :)

Im planning on putting at least 2 of my 240s back in, maybe even all 4. Might try to use them for under lighting. h

Right on I will look into it, Ive always disliked Hydroton, although after 2 years its pretty stable now, but for the first few grows it was all over the map. Its no wonder why people give up! I almost killed them several times. h

Ya you are very lucky! I had PH spiking into the mid to high 7s daily. I was also topping up the res with nuted water, by the end of my first week my EC's were above 4. And my stress level was at 10, Its a wonder they lived! Lol. I guess thats how we learn.

Been trying to log onto stg's website, but there server must be down. Do you know if they have inserts for 4" netpots? Mine are actually 3 3/4, but a 4 will probably squeeze in there. h

Yea they do compress. 1/4 inch will probably not be noticeable.
