According to the STG website it's made from recycled plastic, not cotton:

"STG’s hydroponic media is made from PETE1 -- the most recycled, food grade safe plastic in the world. It does not leach and requires less energy to produce and ship than any other commercially available media option."

*shrug*

Musta glossed over that lol. Feels just like cotton though very soft stuff.

It also says that it's not biodegradable and shouldn't be reused. Interesting concept though... ;)

No doubt, you CAN reuse it and washing in some way would be better than nothing but it's just not "recommended." I probably shouldn't reuse hydroton either but I do. I wash, bleach and rinse it well but I do reuse it. I still might give it a try but they don't make inserts for the largest net pots that I planned on using so I'd have to use the chunks if I did. There are a lot of options available for hydroponics... ;)

Quick pic of what I got in my tent right now. All the other ones for this official grow are growing there first set of leaves. So farm bubble buckets seem good. No hard at all to take care. PH is pretty stable. I check once a day also been feeding them water from the top.

Looking good Bro. Love them airpots. I just had to throw away my agent orange that Ive had vegging in an airpot for 6weeks, then 1 week into flower, and the feminized seed decided she wasnt. Bummer cause it was about 3' tall, a 3' around.

Youll do fine in the bubbles. Are you feeding anything? If so go real light, (Ec .3) they dont need much at this age. Peace. h

Ill take some pics of the bubblers soon. 1 is one week ahead of the other 2 and has its first set of leaves more starting to come..I will nute very low ppm soon. Others are just ph balanced water...and I been top feeding them all. How long does it take on average for the roots to grow out of the net pot? The one planted in the bubbler was Jan 28...no rootes yet but she's growing.

Lol! Your kinda the Guinea pig on that one, as it depends on the medium, and how deep they have to go thruogh. In a 4" nettie, They are out the bottom in about a week, but thats in clay, and I plant deep, so they come out quicker. My personal estimate would be about 2" the first week, then they start growing like crazy, and can grow 2" a day. You can give them a bit of feed, especially the one thats a week old. I usually start them out on Clonex rooting solution, for the last half of the first week, (Ec .3) then quarter strength the second week (Ec .6), then around 1.0 on week 3. Remember they are completely dependent on you for food, not like dirt. (lightening of leaves is a tell tale sign of hunger)

Once they start growing, try to water around the edges only so the roots have to look for food. Also hydro is the opposite of dirt when it comes to humidity, and babies. The lower you keep the humidity, the faster they root. Do not use a dome, or spray the plants. (when young)

If they are growing, be happy! the first week in hydro is one of the most critical, after that its all down hill.

Lastly, (I hope Im not speaking too lay for you, I just dont know how much you know) your gonna want some other nutes besides Grow, and Bloom. You "will" need some Cal/Mag, and I also use Bigbud, Bud candy, and B-52 early on, and for finishing I use Koolbloom, and Floralicious. 2 Fantastic finishers that virtually double your yield.

Hope you found something useful in my babbling! h

Thanks for the help man. I actually use Advanced Nutes Sensi Grow/Bloom A/B, Advanced Nutes Big Bud, Botanica Cal-Mag. I might get another one but can do that later.

As for you babbling keep babbling on. Im new to DWC but not to growing. Grown tons but always with soil 1st time with DWC...excited since its something new. Being new again is refreshing.

I will take pics soon of them but I actually tonight on the Superbud changed out the water, added nutes 300ppm and top fed them. Thanks for the tip on not directly feeding them...I had been. My medium is about 4.5-5 inches thick so I guess it'll be a little while...I did not plant the seed deep in it (in soil I plant it very shallow so was accustomed to that). The one that is a week old is starting its 2nd set of leaves and all the rest are on there first so I guess I made through the critical phase (yay me!)

Another question I read that you should only veg 2-3 weeks in a bucket? Normally I do it a month but I do not wanna be over run by plants. My very first grow way back I veged like a idiot for like 2 months and had gianormus plants. My tent was like a forest...lol. Very unmanageable.
