More light can't hurt, so I'll put the other light in tomorrow. These mommas may have to go an extra week or two. No sign of any resin production yet. When should I turn the UVB on? Keep on Rockin me, Baby!

I'd guess the last 2-4 weeks for the uvb but I'm not sure how long your strain takes to flower, you'd have to look it up.

Sour Diesel, according to no one in particular, is a 9-11 week variety. My plants are at day 37 of flower, so approximately 1/2 way through. A close friend sent me a photo of her bud development at 6 weeks, and while not spectacular, hers blows mine away. Same strain, much bigger bud, more resin (mine is non-existent), better growth rate, all lead me to conclude that these lights do not have the muscle to finish the job. She grows almost identical to my system, except on this run. She uses HIDs, all else is the same, including nutes.
I don't want to jump to any conclusions yet, there is a long way to go, but the trends do not look good. Final weight is the only criteria here that has any influence over my buying decision.

Yeah, I see a lot of stretch which can be genetics or not enough light. It's really hard to say and it can even be both but, IMHO, LED is better suited for smaller plants. YMMV...

SME, these are identical genetics, clones from the same mother. My friend gave me these girls. I promised to test these lights thru to the end, so I will. If it begins to look hopeless, I'll put a couple of 600W HID's in there with the leds. Maybe a hybrid system will emerge.

I wouldn't call it hopeless but quality and quantity could certainly suffer. Even with just LED you'll get something but not enough light is a very common problem, even with HID growers. What is your friends w/sqf at? 50w/sqf (or more) is what I've always recommended.

Oh boi, not to be overly simple BUT... it looks fine!! Finish the experiment all the way through "as planned" and DONT add HIDs in mid-grow. Completely negates anything that could have been learned. You cannot draw a conclusion if you change the parameters of the experiment along the way (to satisfy another person's grow/abilities).

There are so many things that are left unanswered in my opinion:

What are the temperature regimes at the two grows?
What are the RH ranges for the two places?
What day of flower is she in? Could be up to a 6day swing inside the same "week"...
What are the ppms of CO2 at each place?
Skill level of each grower?
Cultural techniques used through veg and into bloom at different locations?




This whole growing thing, is a multifaceted creature that wont be copy and pasted from grower to grower or location to location.


The only way to do a worth wild "comparison" is with one grower, at one location, growing one strain under one environmental regime from start to finish. And should only be attempted/completed where the grower and plants are left alone. It is just as important to remove the outside influences (pride, envy, competition, etc) potentially derailing the experiment or negatively affecting its outcome.


Things that cannot be determined until harvest(quality, density, yields) should be left, UNTIL HARVEST.

Dont count your eggs before they've hatched, It aint over till the fat lady sings, and dont fold em till you see the River... are all terrible sayings you can look towards for guidance when evaluating a change to the current grow.

Stay the course (LED only) and ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!

Have to agree with the above. You have tons of time to do other grows let this one go all LED. You will never get a full appreciation other wise or really know.

He's already added another non-CLW LED so the grow has already been altered. He's also said "I promised to test these lights thru to the end, so I will."

Either way, it's his grow to do with as he wishes...

Thanks for the PEP talk. Both of you are right on the mark, and this demands a full effort of good faith in the interest of science. I did muddy up the water by putting the Blackstar in there, but if I take it out now that will only further complicate things. So, from now til the end, nothing else will change in terms of lighting, and the the routine of the grow. Don't mind the old guy.
