TOTAL NEWBIE

Postby TheTraveller1963 » Fri Oct 25, 2013 8:27 am

Hi Guys and Gals...Just wondered if you can give me the benefit of your expertise, I am based in the Midlands, and have recently decided to try an LED Grow, thinking of a Helios 6 cluster 450 watt set up in a 150wx120dx200h grow tent, can anyone help me with useful tips and resource location please?

I've never been impressed with that light and I'm metric challenged, so, can you convert that into inches or feet, please?

450LED watts but only 300w max output so it's not very efficient.
LED arrays have had overheating issues.
3w diodes aren't very powerful so plants will have to be VERY VERY small.
Silly claim of being able to cover a 4'x4' area at 5' (nobody is going to keep an LED grow light 5 feet from the top of the plants and the w/sqf numbers would be ridiculously low.)

With 300w max I doubt that it would sufficiently cover more than 2'x2'...maybe a bit bigger depending on the crop and growing style. What are you going to be growing?

Disclaimer:
I still use HID and I'm NOT an LED expert. All of my LED knowledge is from other parties or research so I can't say from first hand experience one way or another. I also run a medical grow consulting business in SoCal.
