The Apollo line of grow lights are just a cheap knock off of Hydro Grow LED. Go to them if you want the real thing, otherwise you are just paying for 3rd rate junk in my opinion. Sucks to see a good company like HGL getting screwed by Chinese rip-off artists.

I also asked them these questions yesterday, but their responses are as below:
They have their patents in China.
Their products have a completely different feature, for their light is built with two large square vents at each end and many little holes on its rims.
Their driver is a new technology can match the UL standard, for the Apollo LED grow light's output is less than 60V DC.
And they also asked me this question:Mercedes-benz and BMW are built with four wheels and one engine, can they be a problem?

So how do you think about their response? :?:

I have to agree, just because they're similar doesn't make one a knock-off and cars are a perfect example. Is Toyota a Ford knock-off? Just because something is made in China doesn't make them junk or a rip-off.

That said, I've never examined an Apollo light so they could be junk, I'm just saying that just because they're made in China or similar to another product doesn't mean they are. Look around your house and you'll find a lot of stuff from China and not all of it is junk.

Bottom line, do more research, look for complaints and buy the Apollo if you think it's a good product but if Glen turns out to be right, chalk it up as a learning experience or try to return it, if they have a return policy.

Good luck...

Thanks for the perspective Sister :) Definitely a good point!

However, I happen to know that HGL has been working on this design for the last several months and has just released it recently. Only about a week later, you were able to find this same design ripped off by several manufacturers. Just the name of the game, unfortunately.

Oh, and this Davemedinis character registered from a Chinese IP address and is likely just a salesperson for the company.

Oh, there is no doubt that people will try to take shortcuts and copy other peoples' ideas but that's not always a bad thing. If you can get the same quality light for cheaper, that's not bad. If they've "built a better mousetrap" and made improvements, that's not bad. I did a little research, quickly, and I couldn't find anything regarding their lights and growing so I'd advoid them for that reason alone.

Spamming your own company by trying to make it look like a question on forums, that's bad. I hate spammers. At least he didn't try to link them...

This company from china who is selling the Apollo line of lights stay away from them. The company name is Cidly optoelectronics they are scamers they will rip you off. They advertise low prices but when your delivery comes, if it comes, will not be a quality product. I recently ordered 6 units from this company they were suppose to be 100*3watt LEDs therefore 300watts each unit. Also they where suppose to have customized the viewing angles for me. When the order arrived I realized that they were not 3watt LEDs they where only 1watt. Furthermore the LEDs didn't even have lenses or reflectors over the diodes. I complained to my sales rep and I was immediately blocked from contacting them. So a word of warning to anyone looking for good led grow lights DO NOT ORDER FROM CIDLY Optoelectronics they will rob you!!!! I hope this post will help somebody. Oh btw the guy who posted the original post here is a Cidly sales guy.
