So I have be doing a lot of research on leds, dioides, etc.
So I have a 1000 grow with quite a few plants. Now I currently have 2x1000 watt hps. I was going to go with another hps, but I decided to throw some leds. Now iv been searching for CREE Leds from the Chinese manufacturers(Dhgate, alibaba). Now what is wrong with getting 2 500w leds from there. I don't mind spending more for leds, if they are going to make a huge difference.
I got around 1000$ to spend, and I was wanting to replace a 1000w hps for 2 leds lights if possible.

Welcome to the forums!

There may be a decent Chinese LED grow light out there but there are a ton of them that are crap and even if they say cree diodes that doesn't mean they actually put them in their lights. Then there's support if/when they go bad...and they do. Most of them run the cheap/weak 3w diodes and even if they used cree diodes they'd still be weak. Then you have to worry about the quality and efficiency of the drivers, power supplies and other internal electronics. China just isn't known for it's high end electronics. ;)

I think you've been using the manufacturers as sources for your research, most have misleading info...at best. If you're looking to find a LED light that's a replacement equivalent for 1000w HPS, you'll need more than two 500w chinese lights (even 3 or 4 of *those* might not be enough depending other factors) and you'll need more than $1000.00. LED lights just don't keep up with or penetrate taller plants as well as larger HIDs in flower. Even with *more* than 1000w of LED; the HPS would probably win depending on growing styles.

Good luck!
