I have just bought a ProGrow 400X, now it has a veg cycle and bloom cycle and it draws about 350 watts on each. Has anyone tried veg cycle alone and bloom cycle alone ??? If so what were your results ??? I have been told to use both at once, but 600+ watts is to much power as power here is expensive , I would be better off with a 400 Watt Hps. I would very much appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

not sure if anybody uses the pro grow here. i just looked at the specs on hydrohut and from what i read, the full spectrum mode only draws 385 watts. it's not double the bloom or veg mode. if i had to guess, the full spectrum adds the IR and UV for the extra few watts.

good luck with it! my only advice is that it wont' replace a 1K HID and it won't cover 16 sq ft as advertised.

It really depends on the canopy size. for a 4x4 (or even 4x5) canopy you need 1000w HID or roughly (depending on the mfg) 600 ish watts of LED. So a 300 watt unit would do a 2x4 tray. A LOT has to do with how the LED unit is designed and how efficient it is, the quality of the LED's etc.. The numbers I quoted are for the California Lightworks units I am using. They seem to be well respected in this forum. They call them 440's but the actual consumption I think during flower is around what you said, maybe 320 watts. But you have to run your room temps higher than with HID at least 83-85f. if you want similar yield to HID. See this article:

I think this guy "Silas" consults some LED companies and other mfg's in the hydro market. Seems like a good info site.
