LED Grow Log

This is the beginning of my grow log. I have been growing about 30 plants under a 4 light flouro. I got my light recently, and hung it up. It's a very sturdy unit. Almost heavy but seemingly well made. The cord is a bit short though, wouldn't mind seeing a longer one. Lights seem to be extremely strong, like looking into the sun. The plants offer a strange color because of the lights. They look almost ultraviolet. Going to have to figure out how to trashed pictures under a normal light to see progress.

Welcome to the forums!

What light are you using (no links please)?

What are you growing?

30 plants under 1 led light would have to be pretty small...

I realized it would be too many plants for one light. I plan on lightening the load soon. Might buy another solarstorm on ebay. I'm already completely sold on this light. Plants look and feel sturdy and healthy. I'm growing two strains. Soil, some fox farm, fish emulsion, nursery pots (for now) ..basic stuff. I'm growing something called The Black, and Silverback which are both clones, plus some older plants called big time from seed. I keep changing my mind. :) So many options! I'm also looking into buying a light mover because the room isn't being used or opened. Here is a picture I took when I was rearranging plants today

Those SolarStorms are good light but don't let the plants get too big before flipping them to 12/12, LED lights have penetration issues, even with the bigger 5w diodes. I would flip them at 12" or less. YMMV... ;)

They are well past 12" already. I fully intend on growing them at least 2 full feet. I want bushes, not seedlings. I've installed a light rail with another light and a few fans. Penetration shouldn't be a problem if the lights are only inches above the plants constantly moving back and forth. The light can stay much closer and the plants are already loving it. Tons of concentrated light, water, and air should provide great results. The lack of heat is one of the most awesome components of this grow. I don't have to worry about light or heat burn because my lighting isn't static. Transplanted half of the plants into large home depot buckets. Plants are large and green, but the weight of the light caused an initial problem with mounting to the ceiling, but its all taken care of now. Heres some pics

I typed a huge response, but for some reason it didn't upload. Long story short, I got a light rail, lights are inches above plants, plenty of water, nutrients, and air to promote rapid growth. Plants are well over 12" already. Plan on going bigger because the lights are constantly moving on top of the plants. Here's the pics.

Still a bad idea to let them get much bigger but they are your plants... ;)

Just a check in here. Plants are doing wonderfully. Had a powdery mildew problem, so haven't been very available lately. Going to flower in a few days. More pics next week for sure. Room is just a mess because of the rearranging because of the mildew.

Finally started flowering! Been that way for a week and its been awesome so far. Found 3 males so far, but out of all the seeds I started, that aint bad at all. Had a small spider mite problem, wasn't sure the best route to deal with it. The lights are performing wonderfully! A few pics to hold you over :)

hey sugarbear,

nice looking plants so far!
i've never grown from seed and i have a question. after you flip to 12/12, how long does it generally take to determine sex especially males?

did you end up buying a second light or just a light mover? or both? i was always curious if those light movers work as well as advertised.
