Flowering day 30. Besides a little yellowing, and leaf curl on the Pineapple Chunks, everything looks great. The yellowing has been a problem throughout flower, and it affects less than 80% of the plant. I've mentioned before that I'm not too concerned about the yellowing, but it would sure be nice if they weren't. Again, the yellowing affects primarily the inside and lower small fan leaves. They seem to be dying off on their own, and I'm pulling the yellow ones as I see them.

I've been defoliating on a small scale every couple days or so. I get rid of the fan leaves that look like they are dying, have died, or are blocking the light from penetrating the canopy. I'd prefer my buds to get the primo light, but I also like to open up the canopy for air penetration. This is especially something that the Money Makers need... frequently. I've mentioned before that they are bushy, shrubsters, and I'd like to take a minute to reiterate that. They are the bushiest, densest, shortest internode distance plant I've ever seen. I like to think they're just big buds. Two really big buds with giant sticks that hold them out of the ground. You can see in the below photo of the canopy (taken before any defoliation, super-cropping, or stem manipulation) that the Pineapple Chunks occupy all of their screen area, while the Money Makers have left a few inches to spare. Given the density and thickness of the buds already on the Money Makers though, I am really excited to find out which 2 plants will yield more.

Because I'm not using the Solar Storm any more, and because I want the benefits of the UV, I've positioned my UV fixtures in a similar fashion to what CLW has done, placing mine slightly lower than the fixture, about 18" from the top of the canopy.

And finally, I have some more stereoscopy images. I'm really digging these things, and I probably shouldn't assume that everyone knows what they are, and how to work them. The two images side by side should be viewed like an old Magic Eye illusion, crossing your eyes (or relaxing your gaze) slightly to overlap the two images. Voila, you can see buds in 3D. I am such a geek.

very nice lookin pics there MC

could you take a pic of what it looks like from eye level below the screen? thanks!

don't want to be debbie downer but it would be worth figuring out what is causing the yellowing if it is still going on. you still got half of flowering cycle left for them to chunk up. the only time that yellowing SHOULD happen is if you cut out N to the plant which a lot of peeps do at the end of flowering cycle. just some been there done that advice.

Hi Rky,

Thanks man! Of course I can post some photos of the under screen area, here are those photos for all 4 plants.
PC1 under.jpg
You can see the dried-brown leaves before I removed them. Duct tape at the center stem was to hold together what was a decent tear in the stem at an earlier point while scrogging

You can really see how much bushier the Money Makers are. You can also see some duct-tape on Pineapple Chunk #1, she and her sister have had more issues with ripped apart nodes under the scrog than the Money Makers. I am assuming that this is at least partially where the inside/bottom yellowing is coming from. Speaking of that yellowing, here are some photos of leaves I pulled. They mostly came free without really pulling at all, so they were on their way to drying and falling off.

Here are some photos of leaves still attached to the plant. It looks like it might be nutrient burn to some degree, and not lockout if I'm reading her signs correctly.

My theory is that the 2 Money Makers can take higher quantities of nutrients; there's nary a yellow leaf to find on either of them. Maybe she's just sensitive, because PC2 seems to be doing better in the yellowing department as well. They're all living in the same environment, fed at the same time, with the same solution. It could be that she's the largest plant, and therefore dries out a little more than the others during waterings, but I've been trying to keep them a little moister because they're so large, and the environment is so warm.

Do you have any idea what else it could be? You're right, I would really like to get it sorted out if it's going to be an issue. It does seem to be getting better though, hopefully that's not just my wishful thinking.

More photos of buds to follow!

Beautiful! I would consider adding a shot of Cal-Mag plus. 8-)

MC,

hard to tell. kinda looks like nute burn. kinda looks like cal/mg.

what PPM/EC are you running them at? and your pH is what going in?

thanks for the undercarriage pics. gives you a good perspective from a differnent point of view

Thanks TJ, Rocky,

You're right I'll bet, it's calimag. I forgot to add it to the last several feedings. I've been alternating on and off tap water and nutrients.

I think I'll be changing my feeding tubes to provide more even coverage of water distribution. I try to spread the water out as much as possible, but sometimes I think the root ball might not get evenly saturated.

Also I decided that I can do feedings at night. After thoroughly testing my drip system, I can safely say it won't spray everywhere if I operate it from outside the tent. Once I get even water distribution, I can safely mix up solution outside the tent, add some ice to bring water temps down, and flip a switch. Plants will receive O2 rich air at night, and simultaneously cool the root ball.

Thank you both again!
MC

Rocky, I forgot to answer half of your questions before. Like I said I forgot the Cal/Mg, but gave it more last night when I fed them. 2 tsp per gal, so 30 tsp for 15 gallons.

I haven't been checking my pH since the great chlorosis incident a few months ago, and really I don't want to start that crap again. As I'm mixing up 15 gallons now instead of 5, the pH can fluctuate and take hours to dial in.

As far as PPM... let me get back to you on that. Forgot to measure last night.

I'm going to keep this update simple, and mostly just post pictures. Everything is almost exactly the same as described in the above posts, but the flowers are bigger, the trichrome are frostier, and I'm getting more and more anxious by the day.

We are approaching the end of week 5. With week 6 starting, I'm feeling that these are going to be 9-10 week plants. Based on what I've read, 8 weeks is a bit short for the Money Maker, and way short for the Pineapple Chunk.

You can still see some yellowing on the Pineapple Chunk. I supplemented with Cal/Mg (something I had forgotten in the past several weeks) just after taking this photo.

This morning is the end of day 42, so beginning week 6 of flowering. They don't look a whole lot different from last time, but they are bulking up a bit. I am including photos of some of the troubling areas on the plants. They don't look horrible, but I would appreciate anyone's opinion on what the culprit might be. Mg/Cal is my current contender.

I also raised the light 3 or so inches, so we're sitting at 23" above the highest part of the canopy right now. I figured that some of the yellow and curled up tips you see might be due to high temps at the top of the canopy. I typically ran 1000w HPS about 18-19" above canopy before, but my temps and CO2 supplementation weren't as high, so to alleviate that stress up high, I raised the light the few extra inches.

Here are the girls.

As you can see, the Pineapple chunks, specifically #1, seem to be having the toughest time with whatever it is that is causing their problems. My readings from my feeding last night were strange... Here they were.

Mixing up per Canna instructions:
10 gal tap water - bubbled for a couple hours, cooled with 1 large bowl of ice
150 ml Bio Flores
30 ml Bio Rhizotonic
150 ml Bio Boost
20 tsp Cal/Mg
-----------------
PPM: 676
pH: 4.6 (what the.... super oxygenated?)
forgot to measure temperature...

SO anyway, after making my readings, I decided not to mess with the pH like I did before, and just keep it where it was after adding the nutrients. Remember my pH issues before, from correcting it when it didn't need to be corrected? I'm still a little burned from that one.

Anyone have any opinions? Maybe the PCs aren't getting enough food with the PPM that low? I don't know what to think right now about them. At least they're still growing flowers.

Further thoughts on the PC problem above:

Zinc deficiency maybe or phosphorus?

Noticed some thrips in the garden over the last few days. I installed some sticky thrip paper this morning, we'll see how many that catches.

Or they could be root aphids. I hadn't thought of the possibility of them, but I got aphid paper and put that up too. Now I'm all anxious about that. Anyone know of any treatment besides sticky paper?
