Solarstorm

Well, got my solarstorm bout a week and a half ago. Was packaged very well, nice and secure.
Normally I veg with a 400 hps and a 1000 halide in a 4x8 area. Starting them under the hps then moving over to the halide. So I put the solarstorm in a 4x4 tent to try and get a comparison. Transplanted 4 starts, and put 2 in each room. One under the hps, one under the halide and two under the solarstorm. In the first week I have noticed better growth with the led, with height and thicker stalks. And a very nice dark green color from the foliage.

To me the real test will come with the bloom cycle, I'm a bit of a light junkie and run about 62.5 watts a square foot in bloom phase. So am excited to see how the solarstorm compares.

Any questions that anyone has that I may be able to answer ( im just a guy with a new light)please feel free to ask. I will do my best to answer.

Hey MIGreenThumb -

I am really excited to hear/see your results - don't be afraid to post pictures!

LED is an interesting critter - I have used MANY different LEDs in the last couple years and know that it is common to have MANY more bud sites than with MH or HPS. The problem with early models is that they flopped with flowering but that is increasingly not the case these days with better brands producing rock hard nugs with little effort.

The 62.5W per sq ft you used in the past for bloom phase . . . is that LED or HID wattage?

That's 62.5 watts of HID.
I'll get some pics up soon.
So my latest experience with this new led is pretty cool. Last week I took in some pretty sick plants for a friend to try and save his genetics for him. Put one under a metal halide, one a hps and two under the solarstorm. I fully expected the plants under the halide to recover faster than the hps. But the plants under the led recovered faster than both hid lights. Nice!

It's been a few weeks since I started using the solarstorm for veg. I did a couple side by side tests with it and my normal veg lighting vs the solarstorm. Am pretty impressed so far. The internode spacing is amazing under the solarstorm. They are stacked on top of eachother the whole way up! Definitely love it for veg already! Switched it to bloom 2 days ago. Hope it performs as well in bloom as in veg

I have some. But have been having trouble posting them up. Computer isn't working so all I have is my iPhone. I could email them to someone of they would be willing to post them. Sorry guys, much better with my garden than computers. Haha

Everything has definitely made a faster transition into flower under the new led. At two weeks in, the tops had buds bout biggger around than a quarter. That's faster than any of these strains have turned for me before. Will be harvesting 1st round with solarstorm right around Jan 10. Will have everything tested for terpenes and all cannibinoids. Will be able to compare previous results with same strains under hid lighting. I know for sure UVB lighting helps, but I'm used to using more UVB already than the solarstorm puts out. I am excited to see the results tho.

Just got done harvesting the first 2 plants that were bloomed under solarstorm. They look and smell amazing. Yield is greatly reduced from what I am used to getting from these strains. I did 4 plants in a 4x4 tent with the solarstorm. I still have 2 left in there. Seems a lil strain specific. The AK and Wappa yields were greatly reduced. But I still have an OG and a violator kush still going. Yealds are still down, but not by as big a margin as the other two. Once it's all dried and cured I'll send everything to the lab to get tested. I can tell right now the numbers for the terpenes will be huge!! Very excited to see results! I have worked with and have had all of these strains tested several times in the past. So we will have some good comparisons.

For me the light worked best in veg and certain stages of bloom. Definately Awesome in veg!! My next run with it, I will start my first couple weeks of bloom with it. Since I definitely noticed a big difference with it in the first couple weeks of bloom. Turned all of the strains over faster. And then I wanna finish the last about 2 1/2 weeks with it. And run an Hid in between. Will start that trial this week. As far as the UVB goes, anyone that doesnt use UVB should start immediately. I have been supplimenting I. UVB for over a year now. And have seen spectacular results
