received my light several days ago well package and well built i have experimented with a procyon 100 and a kessil 350 and have to say both were a waste of time and resource i have set this unit up in my vegging room it is twenty eight inches above my table i measured the light imprint and it appears to be approx three foot six by the same not much exciting going on in the room right now but i will keep adding over the next month or so right now i have some unsexed kosher kush seedlings a sour diesel teen two girlscout cookie teens two female mystery teens and one teen that hasn't decided what it wants to be when it grows up the plants seem to like the combo or reds and blues and seem to be growing better than with the four hundred watt eight bulb fluorescent and the two hundred and fifty watt metal halide the biggest plus so far has been the room temperature which is running nine degrees cooler and lets me eliminate the exhaust fan in conclusion so far so good my concern will be penetration as the plants start to get taller brudog

not sure if i'm posting in the right place but here it is entering my third week of using this unit i had to raise the light ten inches this past two weeks as the plants seem to love the wavelength i have nine unsexed kosher kush babies approx six to seven inches two girlscout cookie teens about twelve inches a super sour diesel twelve inches and two female skunk plants that are not identified i use one third soiless mix one third organical potting soil 420 blend this time and one third worm castings i feed one a week and water every other time this will be my second run with green planet nutrients so far so good the most impressive thing about this light so far is the lack of heat build up in my vegging room as i stated before i have replaced a four hundred watt fluorescent and a two fifty metal halide with this unit so i'm using not quite half the wattage for so far improved growth i'm still concerned with penetration as these ladies get larger but so far i can endorse this grow light b

Thanks for updating your journal but I have a little advice for a better journal:

1) Try using punctuation and paragraphs rather than one, large, run-on sentence.
2) GFP grows should be updated at least weekly.

This will make your journal more up to date and easier to follow and understand.

Thanks,

SME

This will be my third feedback journal. i have raised my solar storm to a height of thirty six inches, as the plants continue to thrive. At this height, in imprint on the table is now fifty two inches across and forty two inches in depth. i have added thirteen clones to the mix.under the solar storm right now i have thirteen clones, nine unsexed plants that are ten or so inches, and six large teens. the imprint can handle this many plants. one observation i have is that the light seems to spread more to the side or the switch control, with a darker imprint to the other side . I will keep watching this as i raise the light higher.i will say again that the heat in my room has been greatly reduced. these past few days have been very hot here and normally it would be eight degrees hotter using my other lights. So there you go ,so far so good.Four weeks in this has been an impressive light . b

Thanks for the update!

Are you going to be adding pictures to your journal? If so, I'd like to request that some of them use normal lighting so we can get a better feel for plant health, etc. ;)

Is this light/journal going to be just for vegging? If not how long/high do you plan to veg before flipping to 12/12?

You do know that the higher the light is above the canopy the more intensity/power is lost, right? If you do plan to flower with this light too, how are you going to fit all of those plants in a smaller space? You don't want over-crowding. Maybe future pictures will make things clearer for everyone. ;)

sister mary elephant I do not intend to flower using this light .I do not believe a four hundred watt light of any kind could do the job.I would consider an eight hundred watt for this type of experiment.I am well aware of the light losing intensity as it gets farther from the plant. It also creates a less than substantial stem growth. b

Right on, I think you'll like that light for vegging. We have a number of journals here that show exceptional results during veg so I imagine that you'll be happy too... :D

This will be my fourth entry to this grow journal. i have left the light in the same position as my last entry. The changes i've made are to the plants. I decided to take the taller teen and do an outdoor grow with them.I thought a canopy that was more even in height would make better use of this light,as i am still not convinced of its depth penetration. i added thirteen cuttings to the mix last week.they really love this led,and are growing much faster than the fluorescent t5 i had previously been using.I must say again that the other added plus is the heat factor. i can not express enough to growers to keep their temps below eight to ensure the tight flowers that we all love to see.So less heat and faster growth. How can you beat it b

this will be my fifth entry. i have raised the light to forty two inches off the table. most of the girls are about thirty inches with a few a couple of inches less.i have to say i am quite impressed with the coverage of this small unit.i have thirty plants under this light. i admit the plants on the perimeter are not getting the same illumination as the plants closer to the source, but that would be the case with any light. i am going to veg these plants for another two weeks and then flip them. the plants are healthy and growing as well if not better than the t5 400 watt light i have been using for the past few years. so i've at least accomplished the same as the t5 with less power used and also a lower temperature in my vegging area. i would at this point recommend the 400 watt solar storm to all interested in a decent led to veg with b
