~day 20 veg

I decided to begin another journal. This one will follow my grow using SS400w (in a 3x3) and SF200w (2x2) bloom lights. I have a prosource 180 running as well for veg now in the smaller tent, but the back tent will be using the Solarstorm, perhaps ( if temps permit) with the later addition of an Hps, a combination which seems to be generating some interest on this and other forums.

3x3 tent:
I have two sensi northern lights plants, and one cbd "yummy" female. In addition, I have about 3-4 clones of blue dream/headband that are smaller now but hoping to catch them up a bit.

2x2 tent:
This used to be designated as mother/veg but I made the decision to flower the mothers out. They have been vegging about two weeks and have gone completely ape ever since their roots got a taste of my super organic soil. (Anyone who has been following my grows knows that i eschew bottled nutes :ugeek:) . They had been underfed to keep them small before. This tent will undergo either lst or scrog training soon.

3x3 update

This journal is now solely about a 3x3 with two clw lights. It contains a sensi northern lights plant (right front), CBD yummy (left front),
Headband and Blue Dream ( once mums) in back. The plants in back are larger and have been flowered a week longer, total about 3 weeks now. My best yield numbers were obtained using 4 plants in this space, so lets hope I can improve the numbers this time.

If you'd like to follow the progress of my 2x2, check it out in the grow journals section (It now has a 180w UFO). Thanks!

I'm sorry that this journal has been so long between updates. It's been hard times for my 3x3 lately, not all under my control since this is the one tent that is largely cared for by an assistant of mine. The trouble began when the breaker kept blowing because of a/c running off the same circuit. This was resolved but not in a timely fashion so there have been major light cycle interruptions which have delayed bud formation. Perhaps as a result, The cbd Yummy plant has stretched a lot and will probably finish later, but its a sativa so I think it's ok, even though the buds are super tiny right now.

I know these plants have greater potential than they are showing and hope they get a chance to get there. They have definitely shown signs of bud growth since the problems were dealt with a few days ago. So I am determined to finish this journal and see if I can't get things back on track with the help of these fantastic lights. So far, no signs of hermaphroditism, which I'm grateful for. I just applied a top dressing of 50-50 compost and my organic soil mix to give them a boost as well, and raised the lights, which had been about 8" from some tops.

Heat and humidity have subsided for the time being, im happy that everything made it through the heat wave in relatively good shape. Although behind because of a disrupted light cycle, there seems to be good bud development now that things have gotten back on track for a bit. I am concerned that some yield may have been lost though. There have been intermittent spider mites but we treat regularly with neem and that seems to really keep them in check. I think the soil does indeed carry the mites. hoping that after repeated treatments they give up.

Flowering Day ? (Probably about 2-3 weeks more)

Things are finally starting to look up in this garden. The CBD Yummy actually has some structures resembling Buds now and has a tempting, unique smell. Plants have finally gotten the veg out of their system and are pumpin up the buds. Also, no bleaching this time! Indeed, The lights don't bleach as long as you follow the distance recommendation.

SME I think you're right about mites, they never totally leave the soil but I haven't treated This garden for two weeks and they are gone for the time being! ( knock on wood). So hopefully this run will be fit for a dispensary ;) .

I have noticed the mites particularly like the blue dream, and they can't be blamed cuz That is the tastiest strain I grow, everyone seems to love it. I don't recall them ever attacking the headband, it seems that one is mite resistant. They liked the chemdog though. So i guess the mites have a predilection for the sweet and fruity, and an aversion to the strong and acrid.

Blue Dream harvest

This is my final harvest for this strain, I flowered out my mother plant whose buds are pictured. I couldn't get the entire yield in one frame--it was a lot, I'd estimate 3.5 oz. on the conservative side. The quality appears to be outstanding, for whatever reason mites never gained much of a foothold on this plant, despite being left untreated. The buds are dense and juicy looking and were definitely ripe and ready.

The other plants I'm going to let go another week, the cbd yummy probably even longer. Yummy has filled out her long sativa colas with beautiful bud structures.

I so apologize this isn't a more complete journal, its because the access to this site has been more infrequent simply due to my partner's (and my) busy schedules. My first two runs in this forum are probably better GFP examples, but this garden continues to document how the CLW lights continue to make some amazing bud even under adverse conditions. Based on what I've observed so far I have to conclude it's my best performing grow light.

3x3 update

Dry numbers from the blue dream plant: I thought it would be over 3 oz but it ended up being just 75 grams total bud ( stems removed). It is the heaviest take I've had from a single bd plant, but not by much.

Just reinforces the fact that this hso blue dream is a poor yielder. Quality has been really good.

As you can see, The lower leaves and some of the fan leaves on a couple plants are really shriveled and brown. Unfortunately I wasn't on hand for much of this run, so I can only speculate as to why the plants got this way. I think high heat/underwatering are likely culprits. Cooler weather and better conditions now are allowing the buds to continue to swell. I will harvest the northern lights next week, and maybe allow the yummy to go more if she's still packing on her long colas at the present rate. I am really impressed by the yummy.
