Hello everyone,

The latest update is that I am having some plant health issues. At day 54 of flower I did a flush with Fox Farm Sledgehammer plus a 1/3 strength nutrient solution which I let run overnight then went to a nutrient solution with molasses and began to see signs of stress immediately following the flush.

To remind everyone, I had a ph issue due to some dead root matter in my hydro system which created a nutrient issue that resulted in red rust colored spots on some of the leaves. That was stable until the flush which appeared to accelerate that issue or create a new one, you tell me based on the pictures.

The leaves are also feeling dry and brittle and have drooped somewhat too.

I am also seeing the buds continue to form more and more trichomes which I am taking as a good sign.

This evening I now have one of the plants whose leaves are drooping severely and are limp feeling.

It turns out that my plants developed a severe case of root rot which i was not able to get under control. So, I have harvested all of the plants about 7-10 days before planned harvest and will get back with the dried weights.

Overall, I am happy with the SS400 despite having much experience with other lights as a means of comparison. My flowers developed nicely however not having my room or strain dialed in along with making what turned out to be a compounding set of mistakes has to have hurt my yield. I will have to see how it tastes and feels.

I look forward to my next grow, one in which I don't screw things up!

Sorry to hear you had same issue as me. Root rot that wasn't caught early enough. My setup is similar: 5 site DWC with airstones and a submersible pump to keep the solution really moving.

Do you have a chiller?

I think my main problem was my airpump had a bad port and I was only getting half the output to my airstones. Not enough DO.

What additives do you use for the rez?

So here is the short version. I removed a plant, due to overcrowding, and thought i had most of the root matter removed which i did not and it started to show signs of the rot however I was unable to initially get it under control. I had been using beneficial bacteria with fox farm hydroponic nutrients. I will not be using their nutrients again in this setting because I could not believe the amount of slimy buildup and residue that occurred with their nutrients. And that was buildup that occurred when my plants and system were healthy.

Yes, I have a chiller that keeps the temps 68-70 and my airstones had to be cleaned periodically due to buildup on them that cut off the air flow.

I think I am the one who created my situation however I am glad I was able to harvest something and we will see how it tastes after it cures.

So very sorry that the story had to end this way. We all learned a lot from this so your effort wasn't completely in vain. Please tune us all back in on your next run. Last question will you be buying any more of the SS400s? Was the run successful enough up until the accident? Thanks again for the blow by blow in detail. DG

7-10 days early will effect yield but you should still get something for your effort. Live and learn...

Yes, I was able to harvest the plants which are drying right now and we will see how they smoke.

Other plants I started at the same time under another light are doing well and swelling up nicely with possible harvest early next week. Comparing the soon to harvest plants to the ones i had to take too early is showing that some yield was lost, but hey, at least i harvested something and did not loose everything!
