Solar Storm 400: A REAL JOURNAL

Hello All!
For some time now I have been extensively researching the LED world, and after going through the forums here and observing all the so called "growers" that have taken advantage of CLW's GFP, and post illegitimate journals that amount to no sort of assistance to their fellow grower, nor the company that has so graciously gifted them with a 1000 dollar growing light, at an astronomical discount of 630 dollars.

Let me tell you about who we are.

We are medical growers of the state of Colorado. We believe in the healing properties of cannabis, and also believe the cannabis plant should be respected and treated as a medicine. We strive for the best of the best quality, never cutting corners or doing the bare minimum of a plants requirements. You don't go to the doctor with a cold to be given a tissue, so why would we grow cheap, neglected cannabis and claim it as medicine? In attempt to remove potential stigmatisms created by other growers who have clearly slacked in their gardening, we are prepared to bring the growing community a comprehensive, detailed, and informational journal that will act almost as an instruction manual for anyone growing from start to finish. With every gritty piece of growing detail listed, we hope to educate the consumer on the performance of the Solar Storm 400.

Yesterday I contacted CLW and voiced my concerns of the "journalists" that they give out their products to, and offered them my services to test their light in a professional and controlled environment. The representative I spoke with at CLW seemed apprehensive at first, and I could hear in his voice that this program has been taken advantage of by people looking for a quick and easy deal. After about a 30 minute conversation of voicing my moral concerns, and ensuring that journals will be provided as professionally as possible, he agreed to review my application. I received notification a few hours later that I had been accepted. Thank you Brandon for this opportunity, we promise not to let you and your team down.

We are currently in a medical grow for two patients, 6 plants in flower under a HydroGrowLED Penetrator 336x Pro, along side a 600w Hortilux EYE HPS, nearly 4 weeks into flowering and the plants are looking spectacularly marvelous.

Along with the Journals for CLW, We will also be doing other Journals, in a controlled environment, such as, The Penetrator 336x Pro, The Lumigrow 325 Pro, The Solar Storm 400, and the 600w Hortilux EYE in a Raptor Hood, upon finishing our current grow. These tests are not to compare the lights, but simply show the public some of the best names in LED vs the power 600w HPS. We are simply trying to provide the information that we could not find easily in our tireless efforts of research, and to help those looking for a new LED Grow light to make an informed decision. But as I know, this board is specifically for CLW GFP, and we will keep our posts exclusively to the Solar Storm 400 here.

We will also be posting in rollitup, thc talk, 420 magazine, and other forums in hope that our hard work in these journals pays off and is able to help some poor sucker out there from buying a cheaply constructed product from china that doesn't work, and curses LED's as an efficient grow light.

Again, we would like to thank California Light Works for this opportunity, and are looking forward to using their technology and documenting our results. If anyone is interested in seeing our current medical grow with the Penetrator 336xPro and the 600w Hortilux, I will begin a new topic in a different subject. We would like to keep this particular Journal exclusive to the SS400, and we would like to keep this journal respectful and professional as well. We are all here to learn and compare, there is never a need for argument when we all desire the same thing... Effective Illumination, and frosty, dense, potent flowers.

Updates will be coming soon once the light is received, We look forward to serving you as our audience and peers!

Joseph

Welcome to the forums!

I'm sure your intention was to show appreciation for CLW rather than to take a swing at other members but since you want to be respectful and professional, you may want to reconsider using loaded phrases like "so called growers," "illegitimate journals" and "growers who have clearly slacked in their gardening." While it's true that a number of journals have been abandoned and/or not updated as often as they should have been we also have a number of good members who've provided valuable information. Additionally, new growers are also helping since data from those with less experience is also valuable to CLW, to the forums and to those that come along later, looking for information. Not everyone is a commercial grower nor do they have to be and there's no need to alienate them if they're not.

This section is only for the CLW GFP journals but we welcome journals for all kinds of lighting, with few exceptions, so if you'd like to start "other" journals the "Grow Journals" section is the place to do it.

I look forward to seeing your journal(s) progress...

Greetings Sister Mary,

I couldn't agree with you more on every subject you touched on. My intentions are not to discredit or place myself on a pedestal in comparison to other growers, and I'm sorry if my post reflected that. You are correct that I am attempting to show CLW the appreciation I have for them involving me in a program such as this.

You couldn't be more right about there being other journals here that are helpful, but don't get me wrong, there certainly is a lot of mess to sift through. To all the people out there that have finished out their journals, or are currently in progress of their journaling in accordance to their agreement with CLW, regardless of their gardening skill or end result, they still lived up to their end of the bargain, and that is all that really matters. Keeping good to your word. Shouting out to all the hard working folks out there who have helped some of us along the way. I know this forum certainly was helpful to myself before joining the program, so thank you all!

To those I have referred to as "so called growers, illegitimate journals, and those who have slacked in their gardening", this is not an attack on the skill level or the experience of the grower, or an attack at all, but an observation of those who have fallen short of their expectations due to sheer laziness. A journal by a grower of any skill that is finished throughout, even though the end result may not be so pretty to some of us, they are still doing their best, and living up to their end of the GFP agreement. Feedback is feedback, and that is what matters, but those who post a "journal" that is merely a seedling, and then the member drops off the face of the earth, this is what I find unfortunate.

We are not commercial growers ourselves, we are medical patients and caregivers providing a superior medicine to a very small, select number of patients that are very close to us. As I've said, our goal is quality medicine on a small scale, and we intend to portray that this is possible in our tests with the SS400.

Sister Mary, I have a feeling we will become quite chummy over the next few months sharing information, opinions and whatnot. I am also a grower that loves constructive criticism. I don't mind being told if someone feels I'm doing something wrong, as I am ever growing with experience and wisdom myself, we all are. Nothing wrong with making a few mistakes, just as long as you're sure to learn from them.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could forward me links to some of the journals that you have found exceedingly helpful here on this website, being that you've no doubt seen them all and have a few favorites in mind, I'd love to see the results others are getting when growing properly. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing any journals that you find helpful that may not have worked out in the end so well either, but are none the less informational and provide a good lesson.

As ive stated before, I will certainly respect this section as GFP exclusively, and will post my other journals in the "grow journals" section as you have requested. Thank you for your response, and I look forward getting to know you.

Joseph

Hi,

I'm a "grower" in Colorado too doing a test for CLW. I'll be interested in seeing your posts on the SS400.

Will you be using 5 separate and identical chambers to test all the lights you plan on testing? The only variable is the light??

I'd also be willing to sample some of your current products. I have my red card. Then I can let the other fine folks here know what kind of quality you can produce.

FJ:
I try not to dwell on those that didn't finish, even some of those have some value. I try not to pick favorites when it comes to our members but if you checkout the threads with 6 or more pages that might be a good place to find some of the "helpful" journals and topics. One man's trash is another man's treasure. I try to focus on helping people get the most that they can out of their grows, regardless of what they grow or what they grow with.

If you're growing for other people that is commercial, regardless whether or not it's done for profit and regardless of the scale. ;)

Rkymtnman-

Thank you for your interest, but I am not attempting to market my product, I am only here to test the quality of LED lighting.

I will be using 5 of the same tent set ups, within a large enclosure I have built in a basement. All tests will be controlled by strain, temp, RH, nutrients, and so on and so forth. The only variable we will have is the light itself, and will be starting from all clones from the same mother. I am posting quickly from an iPhone on the go, but if you are interested in seeing our current 5x5 with 6 plants under the 336x and the HPS, I can post another thread upon request when I'm at a computer.

I think you comments are rude to say the least. Do you really need to put others down to prop yourself up????????? You need to keep your comments about the lights and forget about the other growers here and on any other forums you may post on. Remember you are only one person with one opinion and there is more than one way to skin a cat.

I think his poor choice of words has already been covered; lets move on before a flame war breaks out.

Thanks... ;)

I agree SME, I want to see and hear the results from the test and trials of the Lamps.
So FJ, please do a bang up job on your grow and let us know how you like the light and why. Harley, your post are very informative, a little more verbiage would be nice though.

Want to get an LED soon so these trials are good info for me,

Thanks to all,

GR

Hi FJ,

I want to be on board for this.... Enough said about "slackers" they exist. Unbiased grow journals is what is needed and there are many here. CLW is one of the best company's I ever dealt with. They seem to care about customer service and stand behind their product. Everyone out there are not "commercial growers" they know the value of this medicine, but like all medicine it gets abused. With so many LED light producers out there it is hard to sift through all of the marketing hype. There are plenty of fly by night businesses out there. The LED business is no different....
