Double 400w grow

Hi

Im new to LED growing and am excited to get started. I got a 400w solarstorm via the gfp and borrowed one from a friend to compare to a double 600w grow. Aside from the lights, everything in my room will be the same: the lights will be on a light rail 5.0, i run a watercooled hydro-gen CO2 generator, wall AC. The floor is brick on dirt (basement) for hand watering/drain to waste. I'm running aerated RO water with standard botanicare nutrient regimen for soil.

I will be running 6, maybe 8 strawberry cough. Currently, they are vegging in 1 gallon bags, are about 12" tall, and will be transferred to 5 gallon pots tomorrow to finish the final 2 weeks under the new lights in veg mode. More updates to follow

Welcome to the forums!

It seems that you have a pretty decent setup but since you're only running a little more than 1/2 the wattage of the dual 600w HID grow, then I assume that you only expect about half of the yield?

Since LED lights don't penetrate very well, you probably don't want to let them get much bigger than they are before flipping but it is up to you. ;)

Let us know if you have questions and I look forward to checking out your grow!

Im hoping to get close to the same as california light works has designed their 400w units to replace the 600w hps. If they even come close, ill be happy!

It won't come close growing cannabis. It's a myth that smaller LED lights perform as well as larger HID lamps for cannabis. Maybe if you were growing wheat-grass, algae or clover, perhaps, but not cannabis according to the journals around here. The SS400 only put out 330w in flower mode, so there's just no way that it'll keep up with lights that are nearly twice as powerful and penetrate better than LED lights. Your flowers will be smaller and less dense.

We'll help you as much as we can but you should be prepared...
