I have had my light for quite sometime now, I have been waiting for all my equipment to get here and get it set up. well its all here!

Setup-
D.I.Y. Aero/bubble box
400 watt California light works solarstorm LED
2 Bluevenom from clone
Blue Venom - 17% THC
Indica Dominant Hybrid
Grade: B-
Genetics
Blueberry x whitewidow
G13-labs
8-10 weeks flowering
250grams yeild
Space:
4x4x7 ft tent.
Advanced nutrients at 1/4 strength as of now
6" hurricane fan for outtake
6" carbon filter to scrub the air
I just got 2-5 clones to root and turned the 400SS on last night. I have the light approx 28" away from top of the canopy.
I have pictures to upload but seems they are too big so ill have to do some reading and figure out how to post them.

Thank you SME for the warm welcome and am excited for this led grow,
Although an early sprinkler malfunction has killed one of my 3 clones. So now I'm down to 2 clones but I'm not so sad at the moment I have a 10 plant in a 6" tube aero/NFT and that one keeps me on my toes lol. So hoping this one will be a bit lower maintenance. I am kinda of undecided on the style of grow I want to do. Weather I just want to let them do there thing or do a bit of LST.
Without spending a few min looking at the light coverage am I correct 4x4 in veg and 3x3 in flower?
Has any one pushed that coverage to the limits?
My tent is 4x4 and I have a 4x4 scrog I was going to use in there but the res style won't allow me to clean my res very well especially if my plants can't move very well.
So I'm thinking of cutting the strings off it and issuing the eye bolts as anchor points.
I have 5 cheap LED panels and could use them as supplements if I need but would prefer this grow to be all SS400 and no other light really.
What are your thoughts or other peoples thoughts and feelings.
By the way I don't mind people chiming in and talking about there grows or experiences here and joking around to me this is fun and we should all have fun doing it, so any thoughts, ideas, comments, or idle conversation is welcome. And thank you in advance for checking out my
Journal should be a fun journey.

Welcome GG, I am on my first hydro run currently from seeds I breed last run, have not pushed the limits yet. What I can tell you is keep them as short as possible! Don't wait till 12" I have 4 in dirt right now 2 will become mothers and during the spring I will probably try to get a male going to create seed for later use or for increasing genetic vitality, but surprisingly enough to me I don't get many males. I am going to be starting on cloning soon my plants in dirt don't look like they are doing well right now hopefully when I cut them they start to look better. This is my third journal on lglf and I have to say that this is the best forum I have been on so far SME is very knowledgable, and honestly pretty lenient with the forum rules. Good to have a new journal on here be looking in soon. Btw is your system a modified tote from Home Depot? Looks just like the one I bought around halloween

Purple monkey- thanks for the welcome :)
Is the reason why I should flower at 12" due to the lights penetration abilities? And have you ever pushed it past 12" and yes my tote is modified from Home Depot. Painted the lid black then put a coat of white on top. My brother spilled primer on the lid and it ate some of the paint off lol. So far I'm happy with it. I changed it from my other grow by moving the pump out of the res to keep the water temperature down.only thing I'm not enjoying are the sprinkler heads I bought at Home Depot so I'm going to change those. I'll be doing LST on these two plants so I can more than likely keep them within 12" and just grow them wider but I was reading a journal and it suggested the SS400 is best flowering at 3x2, so I guess my next step is to figure our what that looks like.
Seed breeding sounds fun but since I'm still yet to harvest my first grow, I'm going to hold off a bit. Not to mention I don't have a place to put a mother or to have a daddy for the pollen. Maybe in the future. Lol
I
And SME is very knowledgeable and I feel blessed to have her and all the rest of you veteran growers looking over my should to keep me from doing stupid stuff. Hope all is good and green for everyone and good night.

Yeah, I'd say 3x2 in flower and keeping them short is a very good idea. If you're only going to have 2 then you'll probably want them to be wider since they shouldn't get very tall and that will probably mean LST or other training/pruning which you'll also need if you ScrOG. ;)

YMMV...

It is because of "penetration" Newton proposed that light consists of little masses. This means that a horizontal beam of light near the earth is undergoing projectile motion, and forms a parabola. The straight line we observe is due to the fact that the speed of the particles is so great and according to Newton’s first law, the light particle will continue moving in a straight line since no net force acts on it.Baiscally saying light without interruption will continue to move but should it be acted upon by anything the intensity of the light stops there.

So the intensity of light observed from a source of constant intrinsic luminosity falls off as the square of the distance from the object. This is known as the inverse square law for light intensity. Thus, if we double the distance to a light source the observed intensity is decreased to (1/2)2 = 1/4 of its original value.

The light needs to be as close as it can be without sacrificing the lights foot print, so SOG or scrog is really the best way to get a high yield, and top quality. Personally I would like to make an SOG drip to just move clones in and set straight to flower and try to optimize my area I think you could get a very substantial continuos harvest this way just an idea though

I pushed it My first and second grow(my first didn't get much above 12" ended at 39") every plant has at least tripled in height after switching to 12/12

Thank you SME, your input is always greatly appreciated.
Purpmonkey- I have never thought so much about one post, lol awesome I loved it and I am still thinking about it. Very informative and realative to the conversation. Awesome ... I'm happy I have you on board as well.

I have done a small amount of defoil and LST to the clones, and have figured out my other clones died due to sprinkler failure. So I am going to install and inline filter just like I did on my closet system and redo the sprinkler manifold. I would also like to change the stupid sprinkler heads out. Just gotta find the time. Work is super hectic right now. So I continually am going down and manually clearing debris out of the sprinkler heads.

Why are you getting debris in your aero system? It should be clean...what's in there? *shrug*
