Hi Everyone,

I am doing the Growers Feedback Program for the California Lightwprks SS400 LED light.

I am growing Cannabis, of course, and this will be the 4th crop that I have ever done, and the first crop that I have done in over 6 years now. My experience growing before was basically a few house plants that me and my friends grew (mainly me) in our bachelor pads basement, with CFL lights, nothing special, but I did learn allot, and I have always wanted to return to growing my favorite plant but the proper way this time.

My grow room:
- 3x3 Secret Jardin Dark Room 2.5
- 4 inch Carbon Filter
- 4 inch Centrifugal Fan run w/ GroZone TV2 fan control (so basically turns extractor fan on when it gets to hot and increases fan speed the hotter it is)

I will be adding one of those easy CO2 bags that make CO2 from mycelial fungus, as well I'll be adding one or two oscillating fans when the babies are a little bigger.

As for nutes, I will be using Advance Nutrients Sensi A+B Grow and Bloom and the Advance Nutrients Hobbyist Bundle.

So first of all I should have started this journal 2 weeks ago, so I apologize, but let you know what has happened so far.

I bought some feminized Purple Kush seeds and Feminized White Widow seeds. My first attempt at trying to germinate two seeds of each strain didn't work out because I made the mistake of using one of those domes that a T5 light can sit on top of, which I thought would be perfect for little seedlings except, as I have found out afterwards, seeds need fresh air and those domes don't help with that.

So I planted two more seeds of each strain, except this time I soaked the seeds in water for 6 hours and than planted them and kept it in a warm room and sure enough without a stupid dome covering them they pooped up in 2 days.

In the meantime the seeds I originally planted one of them miraculously popped up as well.

I only wanted four plants, because I don't think the SS400 and a 3 X 3 tent can handle more than 4 plants, but I now have 3 Purple Kush and 2 white widows. So I will keep all five for now and decide later, before flowering, which plant to take out and maybe put somewhere outside for the summer.

I'll end this post here, I will start working on what should have been last weeks post right away, and than I will do this weeks update tomorrow.

Week #1 update:

So this would have been last Monday, March 31st (the last post pictures was from mar 26 and 27th)

So I am growing I'm soil. My soil mix includes steralized potting soil, Vermiculite, Perlite, and a little bit of Sphangnum moss, and Earthworm Castings.

All the seeds were started in peat moss, so I guess a little bit of peat moss as well.

This day I put the seedlings in its first pot with my soil mix and its first day in the tent with the California Light works SS400, as well as its first day getting fed Nutrients (yes I know its not generally a good idea to feed nutes the same day you put it in new soil, but I did it anyway)

I first soaked each pot with approx. 400ml of regular RO water just to get the new soil moist. Than I mixed 1L of RO water with 1ml of Sensi A and 1ml of Sensi B (quarter strength) and 1ml of Voodoo Juice and 1ml of B52 (half strength) Than I feed each plant about 100ml each

I have not taken any PH reading, as Advance Nutrients is pH perfect. However, I have bought one of those cheaper soil ph testers online but I haven't received it yet. I use to have an expensive pH tester from when I grew 6 years ago but I can't find it for the life of me, so its gone. Considering AN says everything is pH perfect and all the reviews I read online seem to agree, I am hoping I won't have to ever buy another expensive pH tester.
So we will see how things go.

I have also bought a good digital Thermometer/hygrometer that can tell me the temps for the last 24 hours, but that was also bought online, and I haven't received it yet. However I have the TV2 set at 29 C, which means the fans shut off at 25 C, and turns on to min fan speed at 26 C and max fan speed at 30 C, Considering the fan only goes on once and awhile that must mean my average temps are 25C. As for humidity I don't know right now, but I'm guessing since I live in a dry climate it won't be to high, which means I will probably have to think about doing something about that. Any suggestions that don't include buying a humidifier that will probably break down every 6 months?

By the way, I will have the light on 24/0 during Veg.

So, anyway, as you can see in the last pictures and these pictures the babies have stretched, because I was using a CFL before this update and I guess I didn't have it close enough, although it was pretty damn close to the plants, just proves how inferior CFLs are.

I will have the LEDs at 20inches from the top of the tallest plant, for this week.

So, anyway, that's my week one update, I will be posting this weeks real update tomorow, and then I will be all caught up.

Please let me know any comments, questions or advice!

I have decided to grow Cannabis again, not just because of the end product that I, and I am sure all of us, love so much, but also for the pure joy and therepy that comes from growing in general. That's what I gained the most from 6 years ago. The end product is just a bonus!

Update #3

Thus update is from today!!! So I m all caught up now!

So as you. An see they grew pretty good in the last week. One of the Purple cushes leaves are curling a bit, I am thinking this is because of the low humidity. The humidity om the tent was at 28%, so I ended up breaking down and buying a cool mist humidifier (which also has a hygrometer on it so it shuts off at my desired humidity level, I set it at 60%), and I also put my big tower fan on the tent to start circulating the air better and most importantly help the babies grow stronger stems etc.

I upped the nutrients to half strength for the use nuts and full strength for the additives (B52 and Voodoo juice)

After adding the the humidifier (which ahuta itself on and off at 60%) my thermometer/hydrometer) reads hu!odityat 56% h 58% most of the time, so I consider that perfect, especially considering I live in a dry climate) my temps have been hovering around 25C too. I realize this isrpbably more at the upper level of idea
, but once I get a CO2 bag it will be leas of a concern. I could set my extract fan control (tv2) at a lower temp but I don't want the fan to go on as much, to save the carbon filter for when I really need it and of course electricity and even more I!portant CO2 after I add it) I'm not exactly sure how much the extract fan runs during the day but my best guess is that it runs on a low speed probably 20% of the time, I don't think it has ever had to run on max speed yet.

So anyway, I guess there hasn't been many readers on this forum lately. I know I have enjoyed reading the grow journals on here and I defi etely look forward to any comments ts or advice or anything! I will certainly try being more active on other people grow journals. Growing Cannabis is a joy! Like I said before, I believe I get more out of the therepy of growing than any end result, not that the end result is bad, its a bonus.... A great bonus!!! OK, m a little high right now so I'm just rambling on.... More posts/updates will be coming in the future.

(By the way, in the pictures, if you see a blue topped toothpick than the plant is Purple Kush, if it has a gold top it is a white widow)

77F isn't that high at all; infact, it's more of the lower specs. I shoot for 78-80 (whatever that would be in C. ;) ) personally and some say that LED grows need a little more temp.

This has always been a low volume forum. I've tried to encourage other members to participate but you can only lead a horse to water. ;)

Update #4

So, I upped the temps to 26 C (79 F) and the humidity is always around 50% now.

I just topped all the plants today, and they all look great and healthy, except for one of the Purple Kushes. I Attaching a picture of the one that doesn't look great, the leave are curling and a little bumpy in a way, and feels a little rough/dry. I originally thought it was because of the low humidity but I fixed that with a humidifier and all the other plants seem perfectly fine. None of the plants have any nut burnt and I looked at that plant abuse chart and thought maybe have I over watered that plant, I don't think I did, but on the safe side I bought one of those water meters that tell you how moist the soil is, so I will definitely never over water in the future, but I really don't think I over watered any of the plants,

Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong?

(But than again hopefully it will turn out fine, plus I will have to discard one of the plants or plant it outside somewhere, because I will only be able to flower 4 plants, so this one might be the one to go) But please let me know any thoughts

I am attaching one picture of the plant that doesn't look great and one healthy one. (I'm sure you will be able to tell which one is which)

By NO means am i any expert and here to give you any advice ( Hell this is my first growing to ! ) lol . But one one my plants looked the same in the begining just like that. All i did was give it a good shot of Cal/Mag and it seem to turn it around. What kinda soil are you using and what height do you have your light set at? Other then that they look very good! Good luck with the grow! And keep up the pics !

You'd think that AN wuld have everything you need since it's so expensive but it looks like overwatering with *maybe* zinc and maybe a slight magnesium def...to me. ;)

Let them dry out a little more between waterings/feedings and see if that helps; if they get worse post new pics.

I'd still keep an eye on pH through the grow...
