Yes, they're all feminized :)

Week 4 of the ladies.
They're still leeching food off of the soil so I've had no need to feed them yet.
I'm sure when it's time they'll let me know :)

We're on the third node (including the cotyledon), so when the 4th one grows in some topping and LST will likely occur.

Looking beautiful! How are you liking those smart pots; are they something you've used before? Are you planning to transplant out of them? I've heard they can be a pain in the butt for that, and that the best thing is to cut them off.

I'm growing from seed for the first time, and I didn't top them early enough I think. Good for you doing it early. Have you seen the mainline technique? GR865 is using it in his grow now, I think I might do it next time I start from seeds.

Keep up the good work!
MC

Hey Hun!

I went from a solo cup directly into 5 gal cloth pots, so they are currently in their final home. I did buy a 1 gal version as we'll, but I never ended up using it..so I won't have the experience to say how transplanting out will go unfortunately, sorry!

As for mainlining, yes, that is my plan! :)

Hey, great grow you've got coming along there! I've watched GR do his mainline thing a couple times now, it is a thing of beauty...the patience it takes not only to trim them so carefully, but to invest all the time in vegging to get it so perfect! Good luck!! I look forward to watching !

So you went directly from a solo cup to the 5 gallon...very interesting. Your grow will help me in an experiment I've been running dealing with transplant frequency/pot size/vegetative plant growth, with all else constant..

Continued best of luck!

Transplanting from solo cup (or similar) to 5 gallon cloth was what I was planning to do on my next grow... but that was before I started thinking SOG instead of SCROG.

Looks like there were no hiccups with the transplant though, and I'll bet Meow doesn't have to water them very often due to the volume of soil.

Is that true? You're only using FFOF and 20% perlite, right? I'd imagine you're at 4-5 days between waterings at this point. That's where I'm at with my 4 plants in 10 gallon (outrageously huge, live and learn) smartpots.

Hey MC...(sorry to highjack your journal Meow)...I grow in a 50/50 mix of Fox Farms Ocean Forest and Fox Farms Happy Frog. Last year, at SME's suggestion, I added dolemite to the mix with some earthworm castings as a top dressing. Since then, I simply flush, harvest, remove the root ball and start over. 3 grows since then!

As far as frequency of watering, the plants really tell you when...and so many factors come into play, like temperature, air movement, RH, size of pots, size of plants, etc. That said, I have found that it is best to err on the side of going too dry and under-watering...you will see them begin to droop a little bit if they get too dry. I lift the pots to make sure they are really dry before I water them...even if my schedule calls for watering, if the plants don't need it, I wait.

All that said, my schedule is "usually" to feed/water every third day during the vegetative cycle, and then twice a week during flowering (every 3rd and 4th day)...I also do a full flush (3 gallons pure RO per plant) 3 days before flip, halfway through flowering, and one week prior to harvest.

And now we bring you back to your regularly scheduled programming ! ICB

Hi guys

It's been a month since my last update. Apologies for the delay, school has been keeping me busy!

Since we've last talked, I'm currently on my third and final topping of the plants. I will have 8 cola's being put into flower within' the next week or so.

Along the way, an interesting turn of events have occurred with the same treatment of all strains:

1. The Blue Dream's mainlining ended up asymmetrical (thus the soft ties on it to tie down the dominant branch) [right]
2. The Afghan Kush is entirely exploding [front]
3. The Amnesia has gone from the biggest plant to the now smallest of the three [left]

It's very interesting seeing all 3 strains grow differently!

Hi!

I'm super sorry for the delay! :_;!

I currently rotate my feeding and watering every 3 days, but they can go up to a week if I'm desperate in their current pots. I currently use Smartpots as well! For my soil what I did was in layering. 1 Full SOLO Cup of Perite on the bottom, 5 Cups of Soil. 1 Cup of perlite, 5 Cups of soil, Mix, repeat until you fill your bag!
