Week 1 Flower w/ SS440

Postby Hydro420 » Sat Dec 20, 2014 4:02 pm

Set-up
Solar Storm 440 Flower mode
Growlab 80
4-inch inline Can-Fan S400 w/ 2900 filter
Exhale CO2 bag
5gal DWC w/ 4inch airstone
6-inch fan
unknown strain

Hello all! I got invited to participate in the GFP and I am testing out the Solar Storm 440. When I first received the light and I hung it up, I noticed that the bottom acrylic glass window was separated from the frame and looked as if it were warped! I contacted customer service and they had a new light at my doorstep 3-days later! Needless to say, I was impressed with how they handled this situation. As for the light, i must say it is impressive! I am looking forward to the UVB light feature when she has some buds formed.

pH:5.9

Alot of work (and testing) for an unknown strain. Is it unnamed (you know characteristics) or unknown (have no clue to height, length of flower cycle etc)?

TJ, Just went through that with a strain.

Friend from Cal sent me some beans from a local breeder. Knew the genetics but nothing about height or length of flowering cycle. I look up the parents of the strain and got some idea of flower time, so I tried to bracket it with the two plants I had. One I harvested at 9 weeks the other I waited till almost 11 weeks. The 11 week one was the correct time, buds got harder and larger, fragrance and taste is great and high is much better than the 9 week plant.

I was able to manipulate the height so that was not a problem but if I had not I would of had trouble.

Hey lookin good so far man, just wondering how much heat the 440 watts give off? Wonder how much extra heat it will have when you put the ULB's on in flowering

Hi OffTheGrid,
Welcome to the forum.
Actually these CLW SS880 & SS440 LED panels run remarkably cool.
Their small fans really help, blowing fresh air through them, lowering the relatively low heat output even further.
I also keep a double fan blowing at mine up from the floor between my root trays, so it stays very cool at all times.

Are you considering getting into a CLW LED panel for lighting plants yourself?
I just flipped mine, VEG ~ BLOOM, with very little noticeable heat difference.
I won't be running the UVB tubes in mine for several more weeks. But I will report back, my findings when I do turn those on.
